David Duarte - Chef/Owner

Chef Duarte is a retired firefighter/paramedic who dreamed of becoming a chef. He received his culinary education in Italy and has achieved certification from the Italian Culinary Federation. Chef Duarte’s experience includes instructing Le Cordon Bleu culinary students and Italian tourists in the art of Italian cooking in Italy, as well as working in several well-known restaurants. He has worked in Michelin star-rated restaurants Il Buco in Sorrento, Italy, with Chef Giuseppe Aversa, Locanda Locatelli in London, England with Chef Georgio Locatelli, and Hedone, also in London, with Chef Mikael Jonsson. He also spent time at Ecole le Nortre in Paris, France studying the art of pastries. 

Chef Duarte believes in giving back to the community and has a special place in his heart for those in public service. He started a charity called CHEFS, Continue Helping Existing Family Survivors, to assist law enforcement and fire fighting communities in times of need. He is currently training for a 300-mile bike ride to raise money for No Kid Hungry, an organization set on ending childhood hunger in America. In what free time he has, Chef Duarte provides meals for the homeless community.

Culinary Team



Born in Bangkok, Thailand​, and raised in Kissimmee, Florida, Laura Ann, a.k.a L.A., found her calling to cuisine while traveling through Venice, Italy in 2012. She enrolled at the Art Institutes in Ft. Lauderdale, FL and embraced her new career with passion. During school she  worked in farm-to-table restaurants under a few celebrity chefs.

Upon graduation, L.A. decided to move her career to the water and become a traveling yacht chef. For the past four years she has worked between the shores of Italy, France, Spain & England. 

Although new to the Phoenix area, L.A. has already had the opportunity to work under a couple great chefs before landing on the steps of Finestre.

In her time away from the kitchen, L.A. has set out to accomplish a personal goal in the National Physique Committee of Figure Body Building. Laura Ann is knowledgeable in gluten free, sugar free, vegan, Paleolithic, and Ketogenic based diets.



Bryce is a local chef who has worked in some of the Valley's best restaurants and is know as a culinary cowboy with a passion for all types of cuisine.



Chad is a veteran of the U.S. Navy and enjoys drinking good coffee while learning to play the guitar. He is going back to school to get his degree in computer science.

Sherri Duarte


Sherri  is Ch​ef David's wife and co-owner of Finestre

Modern Gastronomy. She is a full-time RN and, in what little spare time she has, she runs the front of the house operations of the restaurant.

Sherri whole-heatedly supports her 

husband's passion for creating beautiful and tasty dishes and she looks forward to welcoming you for a unique dining experience.



From Rochester Hills, Michigan, Shaun has over 20 years' experience bartending and managing some of the Valley's high volume venues.



Sarah is from Canton, Ohio and served in the Ohio Army National Guard. She has a Bachelor 's degree in Integrated Social Studies from Kent State University and a Master's degree in Education Leadership from ASU . She is a middle school teacher in the Balsz school district.
